This closed-cell foam is a vapor barrier on virtually any substrate (surface) after 2” depth. It has a long term thermal rating of R20 at just over 3”. Walltite Eco® can be sprayed on the exterior or interior of buildings creating a monolithic air tight seal completely eliminating the infiltration/exfiltration of air.
It is considered to be the premier of insulations because of its superior R-value and its guarantee to never crack, sag, or gap. Two liquids are mixed at a high temperature and high pressure in the gun. As the mixing occurs, it clings to the substrate expanding 20- 30 times what it is in liquid form. This expansion is crucial for its ability to fill the smallest gaps giving you an air tight air barrier and insulation.
Having a good R-value is very important but what is just as important is preventing convection (that way heat transfers by air molecules from hot areas to cold areas). Being able to stop this can eliminate up to 80% of your heat loss. A conventional poly vapor barrier can easily be damaged when installing drywall or by simply hanging a picture. For each puncture in your poly vapor barrier up to one cup of water per season enters into your home. This ends up costing you a lot in heating as well as all the dusts, pollens and pollutants that end up entering your home.
With BASF’s Walltite Eco® foam you will not break the vapour barrier (unless you drive a nail completely through it) and therefore convection does not occur giving you a safer home that maintains temperature like nothing else.
Walltite Eco® comes in both a regular temperature blend and a cold temperature form. This means that Walltite Eco® can be sprayed when the temperature is -10c or warmer.
